Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 21, 2026
Introduction
Cleverly v/ Mikkel Andersen (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is collected, used, and disclosed by Markdown Notes (the “App”).
Markdown Notes is an offline-first Markdown editor for mobile devices. It allows users to create, edit, organize, search, share, and export Markdown notes stored locally on their device.
By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Information We Collect
1. Notes and App Data Stored on Your Device
The App stores your notes, folders, and related metadata locally on your device using on-device storage technologies such as SQLite and local app storage.
This information may include:
- note titles and content
- folders and folder names
- creation and update timestamps
- theme preferences and other app settings
- purchase state cached locally for app functionality
We do not operate a cloud sync service for Markdown Notes, and we do not upload your notes to our own servers.
2. Advertising Data
The free version of the App may display banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob.
AdMob and its partners may collect certain device and usage information in accordance with their own policies in order to deliver, personalize, measure, and secure advertisements. We do not directly control the data collection practices of AdMob.
3. Purchase Data
If you purchase the one-time Remove Ads upgrade, the purchase is processed by Google Play and managed through RevenueCat.
We do not collect or store your payment card or billing information. We may receive purchase status and entitlement information, such as whether your account has unlocked Markdown Notes Pro, in order to enable premium access and restore purchases.
4. Shared or Exported Content
When you choose to share or export a note, the App will use your device’s native sharing and file APIs to perform that action. The destination of shared or exported content depends on the apps, services, and storage locations you choose.
We do not receive a copy of content you share or export unless a third-party service you choose independently collects it under its own privacy policy.
5. Usage Data and Analytics
We do not operate custom analytics, user tracking, or account-based profiling for Markdown Notes.
However, third-party providers such as Google Play, Google AdMob, RevenueCat, and your device platform may collect standard diagnostics, purchase events, fraud-prevention data, usage statistics, or crash information under their own privacy policies.
How We Use Information
We use information only as needed to provide the App’s functionality, including to:
- store and display your notes locally on your device
- organize notes into folders and provide search
- support sharing and export features
- show banner ads in the free version
- unlock and restore the paid ad-free upgrade
- maintain app reliability, security, and fraud prevention through third-party providers where applicable

- No Cloud Sync by Us: We do not provide account login or cloud note syncing for this App.

The App may use the following third-party services:
- Google AdMob: Banner advertising. Google Privacy Policy
- RevenueCat: In-app purchase management and entitlement handling. RevenueCat Privacy Policy
- Google Play: App distribution and payment processing. Google Privacy Policy
Children’s Privacy
This App is not directed specifically to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children through our own servers because the App does not require user accounts or direct submission of personal data to us.
However, third-party services such as advertising or app store platforms may process data according to their own policies. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the App in a way that raises privacy concerns, please contact us.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify users of material changes by updating the policy posted for the App.
